Sydisklubb is more than a dance event — it is a living social tradition brought into the present through music, movement and community.
At the heart of the evening is sydisdans, a South Sámi partner dance tradition with roots in the foxtrot that emerged during the 1970s and has since developed through generations of dancers across the Norwegian and Swedish sides of Sápmi. Passed from dancefloor to dancefloor rather than through formal institutions, it remains a vibrant example of how traditions continue to evolve while staying deeply connected to community and identity.
For Tromsø World 2026, Sydisklubb creates a unique meeting place where dance course, live music and club atmosphere come together in one joyful celebration. Whether you arrive as an experienced dancer or with absolutely no idea what you’re doing, the goal is the same: participation, movement and shared enjoyment.
