Borderless dancefloor energy

Genres: Nordic club / Folk electronics

Saunasatan is more than a DJ set — it is a performative exploration of identity, language and northern cultural landscapes through sound. Created by writer and artist Kjersti Anfinnsen, the project dives deep into the musical worlds of the Nordic border regions, building unexpected connections between tradition, club culture and contemporary experimental expression.

The sonic universe of Saunasatan moves freely across genres and geographies: Karelian throat singing collides with Finnish funk, Tornedalian folk traditions meet electronic textures, joik intertwines with northern rap and obscure regional recordings dissolve into hypnotic dancefloor rhythms. The result is vibrant, unpredictable and joyfully unconcerned with musical borders.

At the core of the project lies an artistic exploration of Kven identity, language and cultural memory under the slogan EI SAA PEITTÄÄ (“Must not be covered”). Through playful and deeply personal curation, Saunasatan creates spaces where forgotten sounds, marginalized histories and contemporary northern identities can exist side by side.

At Tromsø World 2026, Saunasatan invites audiences into a restless and borderless northern soundscape — part rave, part archive and part cultural ritual.
